China Plastics Town of Yuyao is a big scientific, industrial and trading project approved by the national industrial and commercial administrative bureau, developed and constructed by yuyao Municipal People's Government. It is a state level modern specialized market of plastics with regard to commodities, finance, information and talented people.

　　China Plastics City with the planed total area of 1.5 km3 takes its shape primarily in 1994. Through the five years of construction and development, it now covers an area of 172,000 m2 with the floorage of 56,000 m2. The supporting zones of commodity transaction, processing, storage and multi-purpose service have been developed and put into operation successively. The town is at the moment the biggest specialized market of plastics in the country and the biggest market dealing in the means of production in Zhejiang Province.

one street of plastics", which has already become the distribution center of plastic raw material and products nationwide in the eighties and won the reputation of "the Kingdom of Plastics" for Yuyao. Since the speech given by comrade Deng Xiaoping during his tour to South China, China has quickened its steps in the development and opening up. Both Yuyao Municipal Party Committee and Government have seized the opportunity and decisively implemented the strategy of "expanding the street into the town", so as to promote the development of the plastic industry and its relative industries of Yuyao, and have realized primarily the two fundamental transformations, i.e. the transformation from the single-purpose trading market of plastic raw materials to the high level, comprehensive, big and first rate specialized market dealing in the means of production in the country, and the transformation from the single purpose trading function to the multipurpose functions of the combination of industry and trade, supporting storage, information announcement and real estate maintenance. At present there are 485 enterprises in China Plastics City and over 40 big and medium sized petrochemical companies from both at home and abroad have set up their establishments in the city. Encouraged by the government and coordinated by the various departments a satisfactory investment and trade atmosphere has been formed in China Plastics City. Therefore, Du Pont, and General Electrical (GE) of the United States, Asahi industrial Corp. Of Japan and LG of Korea, etc. And China National Petrochemical, Shanghai Petrochemical, Yanshan Petrochemical of Beijing, Qilu Petrochemical, Yangzi Petrochemical, Daqing Petrochemical, Panjin Ethylene, Xinjiang Dushanzi Ethylene and other domestic big companies have set up their establishments in the city. Over the five years the annual turnover rated the first in the country. Over 1,000 sorts of commodities are on the market and the goods are sold to the various provinces, cities and autonomous regions with the exception of Tibet and Qinghai in the country. The business information of China Plastics City has furnished the basis for decision making and the barometer in the plastic industry of the country.
