¡¡¡¡In recent years, the city has revamped its industrial structure comprehensively with a view to strengthening pillar industries, cultivating new and hi-tech industries and overhauling traditional industries. It also continues efforts in escalating the abilities of production and management through absorbing advanced technologies and management experiences.

¡¡¡¡So far, five pillar industries have taken shape in Yuyao, namely, electrical home applian-ces, mechanical panels, chemical fiber spinning and weaving, plastic products and metal smelting. The city's industry has been injected with new momentum with the surge of industrial sectors of some scale like penmanu-facturing, button, lighter, water heating products, automobile spare parts and electrically operated tools, Yuyao is also home to some famous brand products. Among these products, "Shuai-kang" and "Yuli" kitchen fans and "Fuda" vacuum cleaners have succeeded in claiming the leading titles in terms of both output and market shares.

¡¡¡¡Yuyao has maintained a rapid growth rate in industrial production for several years in succes-sion. Its overall industrial output value reached 39.68 billion yuan in 1998.
