¡¡¡¡All these high-grade markets are of some scale and have a satisfactory range of functions. As of 1998, the city has some 109 markets, including 16 markets of the means of production, 88 consumer markets and 5 element markets. These markets, with the floor space totaling 617,000 square meters and investment totaling 293 million yuan, secured a trade volume of 10.39 billion yuan in 1998. Under the joint sponsorship of the local government and China's Light Industry General Association, 'China (Yuyao) Light Industry Mould City' has taken shape with a scheduled floor space of 120 hectares. The Mould City's first phase project, occupying a floor space of 10 hectares, has been completed and put into operation. The 150-hectare China Plastic City was already opened for business. Its first phase project, occupying 7.5 hectares, has seen enthusiastic market reactions and secured an annual sales volume of 5 billion yuan. So far, the construction of its second phase project, which is scheduled to occupy 34.5 hectares, has been underway. This phase of project will include three sectors, namely, the plastic raw materials trading sector, the plastics industry development sector and the comprehensive service sector.

¡¡¡¡Yuyao has become one of the country's biggest collecting and distributing center for plastic raw materials, machinery and plastic molds.

¡¡¡¡Commercial and trade buildings have mushroomed in Yuyao's rural and urban areas. Modem emporiums in the city like Hualian, Longshan, the Pacific, Gouwu, Wanlong and Shundu are always swarmed with customers. Yuyao also has a dozen of big and medium-sized hotels like the Ningbo Pacific Hotel, Fuda Hotel, Yuyao Hotel, Hemudu Hotel and Yuli Hotel.
